I'M BACK (OR, HAPPY NEW YEAR, A LITTLE LATE)!

Hello to all my internet friends and family! I do so admire my blogging colleagues who have managed to keep their blogs up to date over the past month or so. Unlike these, as a regular blogger I am a failure. Never mind - it's a new year and I'll have another go - each new day is full of new possibilities.

Although December was a write-off, blogwise,  we had a lovely holiday in Tasmania, returning home just in time for Christmas. Here are a few of the highlights of our Tassie trip:

The Freycinet National Park on the east coast was amazing. We did the Wineglass Bay/Hazards Beach circuit - a 5-hour walk - which tested our not too great fitness levels, but was well worth the effort (and gave us bragging rights too!)

This little mother was on the beach, making friends with visitors.

We then went on to Strahan, on the west coast, and enjoyed a day cruise around Macquarie Harbor and the Gordon River - great fun!

While staying at Tullah Lakeside Lodge (west coast area) with friends we had our first experience of kayaking on the lakes.

The Montezuma Falls walk, a beautiful rainforest walk along an abandoned railway line, leads to the tallest waterfall in Tasmania, but I thought the best part was the rainforest itself. I couldn't get enough of the green! Coming from the dry State of South Australia, I delighted in the lushness of the vegetation.

One final highlight of our trip was a visit to the largest independent lavender farm in the world - Bridestowe Lavender Farm.

I can recommend a holiday in Tasmania - there is so much to see and do, but a great place to relax also.

P.S. At present, you will look in vain for any evidence of bearmaking here, but I hope to share some new little critters with you soon. Stay in touch!
